Performance Evidence

Evidence is required to be collected that demonstrates a candidate’s competency in this unit. Evidence must be relevant to the roles within this sector’s work operations and satisfy all of the requirements of the performance criteria of this unit and include evidence that the candidate:

locates and applies applicable documentation, policies and procedures

implements the requirements, procedures and techniques for the safe, effective and efficient shutting down of the rig including:

identifying, addressing and reporting potential hazards and risks

controlling identified hazards

carrying out emergency response

identifying, addressing and reporting environmental issues

preparing written records and reports

rectifying and/or reporting faults and malfunctions

works effectively with others to undertake and complete shut down of the rig to meet all required outcomes including:

preparing for and organising work activities to meet all task requirements

communicating clearly and concisely with others to receive and clarify work instructions

establishing and maintaining coordination with others on the site relating to the work activity

using a range of communication techniques and aids to advise others of work activity and exclusion zones

demonstrates completion of the shutting down of the rig that safely, effectively and efficiently meets all of the required outcomes on more than one (1) occasion including:

making preparations to stack rig

undertaking rig-out to stack

resolving coordination requirements

applying contingency plans as required


Knowledge Evidence

The candidate must demonstrate knowledge in applying the shut down rig through:

accessing, interpreting and applying legislative, organization and site requirements and procedures for:

setting up work activity

site isolation, signage and erecting barriers

work health and safety

selecting and checking for faults, all plant, tools and equipment to carry out tasks

carrying out work to specifications

standard working practices and procedures

correct methods to control identified hazards

technical solutions for shut down rig operations

truck weight restrictions

rig specifications

forklift operations and limitations when supervising operations

permit requirements
